Dana manufactures custom thermal products, including engine oil coolers, to offer maximum design flexibility for high-performance engines, heavy-duty commercial vehicles, vehicles with increased trailer towing capacity, and high-speed diesel engines. As engines become more efficient, engine oil coolers will become common on most motor vehicles.
All internal combustion engines require a cooling circuit, commonly known as the radiator system. This system is responsible for cooling the engine block and the cylinder heads. Integrating a Long® engine oil cooler provides additional engine oil cooling, and ensures highly fuel-efficient engine performance.
- Localized, cost-effective manufacturing and assembly solutions available worldwide
- Flexible designs to meet exact project specifications
- Filter-, engine-, remote-mounted, and radiator in-tank styles for maximum flexibility
- Engine-Mounted - This oil cooler is commonly used on high-speed diesel, gasoline, or flex-fuel engines for passenger vehicles and light trucks needing engine oil cooling capacity. The design also works well for newer, more efficient engines requiring engine-mounted oil coolers.
- Remote-Mounted - This type of design is normally mounted remotely from the engine block. It is well suited to applications where additional oil cooling is required over the original design intent of the vehicle, such as increased trailer tow, large engine displacements, and racing applications. To provide greater flexibility, there are two types of designs and mounting strategies in this class of engine oil coolers.
- Filter-Mounted - Mounted with a hollow bolt between the engine block and the oil filter, this oil cooler is designed to provide additional engine cooling when design restricts room for a heat exchanger.
- Radiator In-Tank - This oil cooler is commonly used on gasoline engines requiring engine oil cooling capacity, such as engines needing additional capacity for recreational towing. This type of cooling maintains oil temperature during light-vehicle use.
